If you ever happen to meet a flame or a cream coloured ragdoll
you’ll be absolutely enchanted. Their hues are all the more lovely
for their scarcity, which is due to two things. Firstly, flame
(officially known as “red”) and cream colours have only recently
become established, and acknowledged by breed registration
societies. And secondly, the colour is carried on the X
chromosome; for this reason it is gender-linked, making the
females more difficult to come by. Here at
MoonShadow, we decided to specialise in flames
and creams simply because they are our favourites! We have also
had so-o-o-o much interest from our contacts, who have indicated
that they would love one, yet they say securing a red or cream
baby has proven to be next to impossible!
Just as the
traditional colours come in various patterns including
“colour-point”, “lynx” and “bi-coloured”, so too do these
beautiful new hues. And the eyes of the flames and creams
thankfully retain that same captivating blue, contrasting
beautifully with their gorgeous coats.
Flame colour-point ragdolls will
have orange/marmalade points, with warm creamy white or light
orange-tinged body colour (at maturity), and a lighter chest, bib
and underside.
Cream colour-point
ragdolls are a diluted version of the
flame.
Yet owners of flames and creams have one thing more
to delight in: their kittens’ colour develops more slowly than
those of the traditional colours, so that even after months the
subtle changes in tint are occurring.
We are only in the
early stages of our flame and cream breeding program, therefore we
have only a few breeders in this colouring, so please contact us
sooner rather than later. And although we prefer not to have a
“waiting list” as such we are happy to take your contact details
so that when a litter is due we can give you advance notice.
